On the Tenth Day of Christmas

On the tenth day of Christmas, a Christmas memory gave to me, a slightly gaudy Christmas tree for handing down.

For the ten people who've actually been reading the book day-by-day that I wrote last year, you would have noticed a challenge to myself when I wrote about the jewelry Christmas trees that my grandmother made with my mom and my Aunt Mardi. I mentioned that I would make these same trees with my grown children this Christmas, using jewelry from my mother and me.

Tonight at our family party, we accomplished it. My husband and I crafted ornaments with our grandkids while the adults wielded their glue guns, and the result was something I hope they laugh about and reminisce about when they pull them out of their decoration box at the start of each Christmas season.

Tonight, I found Christmas Spirit amidst the tarnished and mislaid items that could have so easily been tossed away. Isn't that was Christ does for us? He finds the sparkle and worth in our tired and world-worn lives. Goal accomplished.
