Day 76: It’s a classic Smatterday! St. Patrick’s Day, National Quilting Day, and National Corn Dog Day, all rolled into one! What better day to dabble than when you may have a bit more luck?
My mom dabbled in quilting and was lucky in her success. Her posterity was lucky that she left behind beautiful quilts and the memories of learning how many stitches should fit on your needle and the right way to wear a thimble. The luckiest thing about mom setting up a quilt in the living room were the awesome forts we made underneath.
My husband and I received a Fry Daddy as a wedding gift back in the day, and it’s recipe book contained the best recipe for homemade corn dogs. We were poor newlyweds, so we made a lot of corn dogs with that new Fry Daddy, and when my mom noticed, she said “what luck to have found such a great recipe. These corn dogs are delicious! But maybe you should only make them once in a while. After all, you’re responsible for your family’s nutrition now.”
She was right. I was lucky to have her around to steer me in the right direction.
