Day 68: Today is National Get Over It Day. Does anyone else find it interesting that it is celebrated the day after National Proofreaders Day? I’m thinking there’s a message in there somewhere. Do I need to get over grammar? Maybe. I may never fully grasp the English language. James Nicoll aptly explained it this way: “On occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary."
English and its grammar make for a rough crowd. Just when you figure out one part of speech, you inadvertently dangle a participle or split an infinitive or end a sentence with a preposition.
Maybe the lesson to learn here is that we should be taking one day to identify our mistakes, and then do what we must in order to GET OVER them. Done and done. What about you? Do you have anything to GET OVER? Because it looks like today is the day to do it! #MomsCompanyTowels #grammarweek #getoverit
