Day 49: Happy Sonday! My mom’s favorite hymn was Love One Another. Those words showed up on the company towels repeatedly. I write about my mom a lot, but my dad really deserves a year of admiration from me, too. I loved it when it was his turn for family prayer, because he used the word “mindful” as he prayed . . . please bless us to be mindful of others, mindful of others’ needs, mindful of those who are weary or who have cause to mourn. His prayers always made me think a bit harder about what my mind was full of.
