Day 44

Updated: Feb 14, 2018

Day 44: It’s Valentine’s Eve, people! My mom loved Valentine’s Day. She was all about the love. She left boxes of chocolates on our pillows. She wrote on the mirror in lipstick. She made delicious desserts. She made me love Valentine’s Day, too, and we passed along her silliness.

This was a typical day at our house before our kids grew up: -Awake to a message written on the bathroom sink in bright red lipstick. -Receive a Valentine from the parentals on your pillow or your breakfast plate or tucked inside your backpack. -Eat breakfast, consisting of hearty pancakes with hearty pats of butter, hearty eggs, hearty Canadian bacon, and a sliced strawberry or two (they’re already naturally heart shaped.) -Eat a lunch of heart-shaped sandwiches and fruit, and find a message of love written on the napkin. -Arrive home and unload your class Valentines while having a heart-shaped snack. -Dinner Party with the family, with a heart-shaped main course, a tossed salad filled with heart-shaped veggies, ham, and cheese, heart-shaped jello, and a hearty dessert. -The most important part? Telling everyone why you love them and hearing why they love you.

Now, they’re all making hearty breakfasts for their own families, so my hubby and I might just go out on a date! We’ve never done that on Valentine’s Day. What a novel idea.

As my Valentine to you, I have compiled some of the tricks Mom taught me concerning hearts and food and fun. The reason I love you, you might ask? Because you’re putting up with one of these corny towel posts every day this year. Thank you. It means a lot.

Small Catch: Since my website provider changed the blog platform, it asks you to sign in if you want to “heart” a post, or comment, or download. Please don’t worry about this. It must be intimidating, because the only people who have signed up are myself and my Aunt Mardi. Love you, Aunt Mardi! My awesome website provider is simply making sure no trolls are lurking under the bridge. They want to know you’re a real person. My website is secure and I’ll only ever send you an email if it’s super cool or terribly important news, so it’s worth it to sign up once and then you can download anything I offer up on the site, like your Valentine of Handy Heart Hacks!!
