Day 333: From her store experience, my mom knew how to organize. When I would put away the groceries for her, the labels on the canned food always had to face forward, and when I hung up a shirt with buttons, the top and third button were always buttoned, which kept the shirt snugly on the hanger. She also had specific instructions for ironing a dress shirt. Specific.
My can labels aren’t as lined up as hers were, and I never button up the third button when I hang shirts, which explains why they hang a bit skiwampus, which is her word for misaligned, and probably why those shirts have to be ironed before they’re worn. I do, however, still follow her ironing protocol. Maybe my New Year’s Resolutions should include a return to her button method.
