Day 268

It's almost that time of year when other girls look cute in their flannel and I look like I've misplaced my ax.

Day 268: Another thing I would’ve shared with Mom to make her laugh . . .

My niece, Debbie, posted this recently, and I laughed out loud when I read it. My mom used to say “I’m a ballerina on the inside, but outside? I’m a bull in a china shop.”

We both loved plaids. I vividly remember Mom helping me sew a pleated plaid skirt. The pleats were tricky, but she showed me how to use the lines of the plaid to make the tucks even. And after it was finished, I decided I looked less like a Scottish lass and more like Paul Bunyan’s sister.

The pleats laid very nicely, however.
