Day 264

Oliver and Claire at the Disney's Paint the Night Parade

Day 264: I can’t imagine my life without . . . the little details.

My mom believed that imagination was imperative to success. “Dream big!” she would say, “and then start little.”

My mother should have worked for Walt Disney. She would have been an amazing Imagineer, because she paid attention to the little details, and so does Disney. They put the “theme” in theme park, ya know what I’m saying?

Toon Town isn’t my favorite part of Disneyland, but the Imagineers pulled off quite a feat to create a neighborhood that lets you walk around in a cartoon.

One of my favorite rides is Soarin’ Across the World. Flying over the wonders of the world in ten minutes? Travel at its best! The wind actually smells like it should! Grassy over the savannah, perfumed over the islands, brisk and fresh over the arctic. Details.

Next year they’ll open another park dedicated to Star Wars. We peeked over the walls on some of the taller rides and the construction zone is huge! They must be recreating the whole galaxy! And if anyone can do that, it would be Disney. Because . . . details.

It’s the attention to detail that causes people to return time and again. Disney has built an empire on the little details, knowing that when those details cause faces to light with wonder, they are creating lifelong fans.

My mom wasn’t necessarily trying to create an empire, but she was all about making people happy, and she started with the little details. #momscompanytowels #dreambigthenstartlittle #itsinthedetails #wonderface
