Day 199: It is World Listening Day. The question we are to ask ourselves is “What does your future sound like?”
I have an adorable niece, who, through science and technology, can ask herself that question because of her cochlear implants. That is a miracle.
What about you? What does your future sound like? I stopped to consider my answer, listening to the average office sounds around me. Yet even office sounds aren’t average, are they? They’re extraordinary! Because I can hear them!
My mother was an excellent listener. She rarely interrupted, yet she was engaged in what she was listening to. I could talk to her about almost anything. And when I was finished talking, I would listen to her responses - to her advice - to her insights. Boy, what I wouldn’t give to be able to listen to her again - to make her voice part of what my future sounds like. We listen to communicate. We listen to learn. We listen to understand. We listen to appreciate. This world, it’s sounds, and all of us who listen to them, are nothing short of extraordinary. What does your future sound like? #MomsCompanyTowels #AverageAndExtraordinary #worldlisteningday #whatdoesyourfuturesoundlike?
