Day 160

Parade Route of Life. Two girls ready to twirl their batons.

Day 160: Life is a parade! It’s a metaphor in progress, since I’m watching a parade as I write this. Some days we accomplish something great and we deserve accolades like the grand marshal. Some days we’re the performing group who has practiced long and hard to knock the socks off the audience. Some days we’re the candy throwers and some days we’re the ones getting nailed in the head with a hard piece of taffy. Some days we’re tired and happy to sit on the sidelines and watch the fanfare pass by, and some days we’re the pooper scoopers who follow the rodeo royalty.

Most of the time, we’re the ones cleaning up the aftermath. When I was little, my friend’s mom taught us to twirl batons in the parade. In high school, I twirled a flag in the parade. When my kids were little, I twirled kids to keep them on the curb and out of the road at parades. Now, I’m content to twirl words on the sidelines. In the shade.

Now, I’m content to twirl words on the sidelines. In the shade. I like this stage on the parade route of life. Where are you on the route? #MomsCompanyTowels #LifeIsAParade #TwirlingWords #whereareyouontheroute
