Day 150

Mom reading my book

Day 150: 150 feels like a big number, don’t you think? Here we are, at the end of May with only one more day before June arrives.

May was a big month at our house - a wedding, a bunch of birthdays, and so many important anniversaries, among them, the anniversary of my parents’ marriage and the anniversary of my mom’s death. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that the publication of my series occurred on my mom’s death date, which was bittersweet because she would never get the chance to read my work that was so inspired by her. Like I said. Bittersweet.

But, this week we are talking about Saying Goodbye, and today I’m saying goodbye to regret.

Instead of being bummed about something I can’t control, I’m happy that my sweet mom-in-law DID get to read my story! Well, the first two books. The last two were released right before and right after her death. But since we’re ditching regret, I’m just happy she read the first two. It meant the world to me to visit with her about the stories. She said she could see Riley’s blue eyes and Jocelyn’s hands with her artist’s eye, and thought it might be fun to paint what she imagined. That didn’t happen but, like I said — it meant the world to me to share my story with her before I couldn’t anymore. Bye, bye, bye Regret. I’m leaving you in the past. #MomsCompanyTowels #NoMoreRegret #TheMakingOfSayingGoodbye
