Day 119

Books: portals of escape, vaults of knowledge, paths to understanding, and tethers to faith, but for all their possibilities, none matter much if we don't look up from the book and apply the possibilities in our reality.

Day 119: I’ve been going on about books this week — World Book Day, books as portals, a short book poem for your pocket, and a diploma as the first page in our grown-up books of life. Behind the scenes, or towels, I was proofreading a novel for an author friend and working on my own work in progress. It really was a bookish kind of week. But there was a lot going on that didn’t have anything to do with a book, too, including the fact we’re only twenty days out from our daughter’s wedding (gulping down my inclination to hyperventilate!) There’s more than enough REALITY at home and at work to keep my nose out of a book.

Books can be useful portals of escape, vaults of knowledge, paths to understanding, and tethers to faith, but for all the possibilities they hold, none matter much if we don’t look up from the book and see how to apply those possibilities in our REALITY. In the next 20 days I’ll be reminding myself to look up from the book. #MomsCompanyTowels #LookUpFromTheBook #BooksPortalsVaultsPathsTethers
